You Are An Arrow

You are an arrow made by God for a specific and detailed journey to the target of eternal life. You are not mass-produced with cheap materials and poor direction. There are many liars and a father of lies who desire you to believe you are cheap, but that is not true. You are beautiful and priceless.

Psalm 139:14 “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

God makes only the best of everything, including you, Your design is perfect, and you have a purpose. This is who you are in Christ, the Son of God, and you will find your way to your design and purpose through Him.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not die but have everlasting life.”
You are God’s special arrow. If you stay in the quiver, you will not find your destiny. Ask him to be sent forth. Ask for your path to be straight and true. When you are set free from God’s bow, you will not fall short of the target. He is both your archer and your target. His is a no fail system. You can trust him, but you can’t trust yourself.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.”

Understanding God’s Word

The Bible, Word of God, Scripture – whatever you choose to call His book – is God speaking to you personally. He has a lot to say, so He gave His words to men to write down. Because God is God, His Word is like Him. It doesn’t change, and it never fails. It has power to accomplish everything for which He sends it forth. Everything He has said is as relevant today as when Moses began writing down the books of the law. God’s hand has guided the hands of countless scribes through the centuries, including present day translators and printers to keep His Word intact.

We can partially understand God’s Word with our minds, but if you think about it, don’t you want to receive more from your reading than intellectual assumptions? Have you not learned that your mind often slips a gear when you are reading something, and you can totally miss the point? It’s like trying to understand math that the teacher hasn’t explained to you yet.

Here is how to understand God’s Word: the Holy Spirit will explain it to you. He will help your mind accept the faith in your spirit has that the word you read is true. The Word itself is living; God’s expression of Himself to you, so that you can have all the information and understanding and power you need to live a godly life and do great things that need doing.

The Spirit of God dwells within all true followers of Jesus Christ. He, the Spirit,  interprets the Word to you. James 1:21-22 says to receive the word implanted and be doers of it, that is; doers of what it says to do. This includes believing God’s promises as well as the practical things like helping widows and orphans.

Right now, take five minutes to go to a private place and open God’s Word.( If you don’t have a Bible with you today, then print this post. Short passages from the Bible are included at the end, and you can use those.) Read a portion of scripture, keeping verses in their complete context or thought. Write down, without actually quoting the passage, what you think it is saying. Make a note to yourself about what you thinkit means after reading it alone. Now, your are going to read it again, but first, be quiet. Shut your mind off to every clamor! Ask the Holy Spirit to read the scripture through you and to you, and ask Him to open your spiritual ears and eyes for comprehension of the truth.  As He reads through your physical eyes, you speak the words aloud. Your mind will hear the words from what the Spirit of God is speaking through you. Now write down what you heard. Is there a difference from what you first wrote?

God’s Word is always fresh and new. You may read the same scriptures tomorrow in the power of the Holy Spirit instead of your intellect, and you will find more in them than today.

Lord God, bless these readers with new life in Christ; more of You, as they exercise their spirits by your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen!

Hebrews 4:12-16 The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart.  There is nothing that can be hid from God; everything in all creation is exposed and lies open before his eyes. And it is to him that we must all give an account of ourselves.  Let us, then, hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we have a great High Priest who has gone into the very presence of God—Jesus, the Son of God.  Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin.  Let us have confidence, then, and approach God’s throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it.

Colossians 3:16-17  Christ’s message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts. Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father.

I John 2:27  But as for you, Christ has poured out his Spirit on you. As long as his Spirit remains in you, you do not need anyone to teach you. For his Spirit teaches you about everything, and what he teaches is true, not false. Obey the Spirit’s teaching, then, and remain in union with Christ.

God Is In Control

Today is a rainy, cool day of summer. Just the kind of day to recline on a proch swing and read a great book.

What book would you choose to read? Science fiction or fantasy? Biography? Mystery or thriller? How about God’s Word, aka the Holy Bible?

For starters, if you don’t have a Bible, but you do have the internet, just go to a search engine and find one on line to read. There are many available. Unless you have a portable internet device, you won’t be able to hang out in that swing, but you are on line anyway, so why not give it s shot?

Begin with the Gospel of John if you are unfamiliar with God’s Word.

Oh yes; before you read,  ask God to help you understand what you are reading. Seriously – he will definitely answer your request in the positive. He promises to do whatever we ask when it is his will for that to happen. Really, when you get to know him better, you’ll be glad you trusted him for understanding.

Enjoy your day!
