You Are An Arrow

You are an arrow made by God for a specific and detailed journey to the target of eternal life. You are not mass-produced with cheap materials and poor direction. There are many liars and a father of lies who desire you to believe you are cheap, but that is not true. You are beautiful and priceless.

Psalm 139:14 “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

God makes only the best of everything, including you, Your design is perfect, and you have a purpose. This is who you are in Christ, the Son of God, and you will find your way to your design and purpose through Him.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not die but have everlasting life.”
You are God’s special arrow. If you stay in the quiver, you will not find your destiny. Ask him to be sent forth. Ask for your path to be straight and true. When you are set free from God’s bow, you will not fall short of the target. He is both your archer and your target. His is a no fail system. You can trust him, but you can’t trust yourself.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.”

Seeking Wisdom?

“Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!” Psalm 111:10

“”Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” Proverbs 1:7

‘If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.”  James 1:5-6

When we concede to God in all things, acknowledging him before any other consideration, he says, this is where wisdom comes from. We must trust God and only God in this matter. There are no alternatives.

Examine the world around you. What is taken for wisdom in the world will be proved to be foolishness instead. For example, you may know someone who stockpiles groceries and household items. They firmly believe they are saving money wisely by buying up all the “deals” in the stores and storing most of what is bought because it cannot all be used immediately. Think of what could happen to the stored items. Fire, flood, wind, theft, moth, rust, and corruption! Foods expire and paper products get damp and moldy. Fourteen bottles of shampoo are a waste of money, even if they were only 25 cents apiece, ($3.50)  if your hair falls out from sickness.  God has promised to provide everything we need for daily life. He will keep this promise faithfully; when we trust him to do it, then we are wise. If we look at someone’s stockpile and think, “I need one of those,” because we fear we will run out of these things, then we are not trusting the Lord.

Fear of the LORD, that is, trusting him completely in all things, is the foundation for wisdom. Jesus Christ is the Rock of our salvation, and we build upward from him. Read Luke 7:46-49. The storms of life cannot shake the Lord. The storms of life easily wipe out what is made by men.

Fools despise wisdom and discipline. It takes discipline to be able to trust God completely. He will bring you through each test to success, but you have to believe he is doing it! Wavering back and forth between what you know the Lord says and what the world around you is saying will just make it harder to get through. Double-mindedness causes more storm tossing.

To know what God is saying about a subject, search the scriptures. Be patient! Even if  your mind is in a turmoil today, listen as you read with your heart, and the Lord will lead you to the truth. Reminder – the scripture in James chapter one says to ASK our very, very, very generous God for wisdom, and he will give it to you. He wants to give it to you.

Thank you, Father God, for your generosity and gifts of wisdom. Thank you for teaching me right disciplines to operate in your wisdom and never be swept away by foolishness again. Bless all who read this now with a desire to trust you completely and seek you today, in Jesus’ Name.

Christians in the World

The deceptions of the world are amazingly blatant. Recently, television has been plastered with advertisements demanding that rich people pay higher tax than poor people; that such taxation is “more fair” for everyone! Such logic is what started the French Revolution. If there are taxes, then each person should pay his share, and it should be an equal percentage for everyone. God asks everyone to set aside and equal portion for Him. That amount is a tithe, or ten percent, and there are no shades or variations of that amount depending on how much He has blessed us financially! In Christ’s Kingdom, the rich always willingly give to the poor, so everything evens out. I think most persons of wealth do give away a great deal of money to causes they believe in, anyway. An extorted higher tax will just take away what they would have given away.

The same principle applies to giving away the Good News, the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Our present culture imposes strict and oppressive rules on anyone who would freely give the good news that Jesus saves us from death and condemnation. The loud clamor of the world is that we who believe have no right to tell them anything! According to Romans chapter 1, this is so that they can keep on with their wickedness without conscience. Yet believers are the ones with the greatest wealth – Christ in us!, unto all godliness and abundant life. To tax us with restrictions against sharing Christ’s love defeats their receiving exactly what they need. We can shout them down with God’s love and God’s grace and give them the wealth we have, too.

Lord, today we thank you for giving us your salvation, We ask you for greater boldness to walk through the restrictions of our culture and proclaim your Good News. You walk with us and give us joy in reaching others for your Kingdom. Thank you, Lord. We pray in Jesus’ Name.

A Life of Decisions

In the Body of Christ, every believer and follower of Christ has the right and privilege of knowing His perfect will in every circumstance and situation. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Christ living inside us, will guide us into ALL TRUTH.

Have you ever wanted to know either the history or the outcome of a particular situation? God knows these things, and he is willing to share information. Often we make our choices based on pre-judging (prejudice) or assumption because of what we see. God wants us to make choices based on faith, or what we can’t see, which is believing He knows everything, and what He knows is perfect and best.

Nearly all the time, special knowledge from God is not needed to make a right decision. We have His written Word, the Bible, where every life issue can be weighed with the principles and commands spelled out clearly for us. The Spirit of God will always use the Word of God to teach us and make God’s perfect will clear to us.

Here is one example of how God leads and teaches us.  We begin with some scriptures.

Genesis 2:23 “At last!” the man exclaimed.

“This one is bone from my bone,
      and flesh from my flesh!
   She will be called ‘woman,’
because she was taken from ‘man.’”

24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

Ephesians 5:31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

These two passages reveal the heart of God how marriage is ordained to work. God does not give anyone a pass on this. If you will read all of Ephesians 5, you will learn that marriage is a representation of Christ’s relationship to His Body, which is all believers. In order for Christ to be properly and truthfully demonstrated in marriage, a man must leave his parents and become one with his wife. When we became Christians, we became mysteriously joined to Christ in a relationship that the world we leave behind for that cannot understand. So it is that only the husband and wife can understand their own relationship with each other. Parents are not to be initmately involved inthat relationship, because that is not God’s plan. The book of Ephesians is greatly descriptive of how the Holy Spirit creates intimacy with believers and reveals truth. Marriage is a Spirit-led union. Any influence apart from God is impurity. Missing the mark. Sin.

Only the Hoy Spirit can bring about complete intimacy between Christ and man; between Christ and the church while we remain on this earth. When we get to heaven, then we shall know even as we are already known by God. I Corinthians 13 11-12 says, When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

Here are questions for you to ponder today: do you want to know God intimately or partially? Do you want to live in truth?

There is a way you can begin to unravel how your life has gone so far, and set the order for a right future. Make three columns on paper. In the first column, wirte down every major decision you have every made in a list. Leave lots of room between. In the second column, next to each listed decision, write down how that decision turned out. Good, bad, indifferent, or maybe you have never figured it out totally.  In the third column, write what God says about your decision. At the right of this blog, there is a link to Bible Gateway where you can research many Bible translations, topics, and commentaries. This third column will take some time. You are encouraged to completely finish this task.

Decisions based on truth will shine like heavenly lights. Praise and thank God for those!

Decisions based on personal prejudice or wrong teaching from your past require cleansing. Seek the Lord for forgiveness and surrender yourself to His leading for what to do about these things. He will lead you into real truth that you can believe wholeheartedly. He will lead you into a right future.

Sometimes we have based new decisions on old bad decisions. We think the new choices will fix the old ones, or make them better. This can make getting at the truth involved and tricky. However, if you will rely on God, surrendering to the teaching and power of the Holy Spirit, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32) Then you can finish up the good work God has begun in you!

Philippians 1:6 (New Living Translation) ” And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Have a great day in the Lord!

Because We Fear God

Almighty God, the Creator of all things, deserves our reverence and obedience. Did he not make us? Did he not make this beautiful Earth? When you look up, up, up into a clear night starry sky, can you doubt that there is One God, Creator of All Things? How could the universe hold together without a power greater than any human mind can understand? It has to be God. There is no other answer.

So we must fear God. His almighty power is fearsome. His love is also great and mighty and fearsome. God is Love.

Please listen to what God has done for us. He has made a way to be our companion and friend and to show us his love, and to give us the measure of his power we need to love others. Truly loving others in the power of God is what makes us more like him. This comes about through our believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We love because he first loved us. We can open our hearts to all people when the love of Christ lives in us and the life of Christ is lived through us.

These are not high falutin’ words. These words are based on God’s Word, the Holy Bible, which you can read and believe for yourself. God’s Word is absolute truth. It loses nothing in translation, as modernists will argue. God is God. He has absolute power. He can protect his Word. He says it is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting deep into your physical life to reveal the spiritual life within. What is in your heart? What does the Word of God reveal? Is Christ living there unashamedly so all is well?

Let us work toward complete purity because we fear God. (2 Corinthians 7:1b)
