What About Enemies?

You are a Christian. You love the Lord Jesus Christ and your desire is to always follow him and do what is right.

Yet you have conflict with people. You don’t understand why they dislike you so intensely. You think, THEY are the bad people, not you. Anything they say or do regarding yourself is calculated to put you in a bad position; to hurt you. They attack your loved ones and try to make life as miserable for youa s possible. They demand tribute from you, and they aren’t going to stop attacking until they get it. This rises up the gall in you and you want to hurt back. Sometimes you do hurt them back and it just feeds their mockery. It goes on and on until one day you realize that there are almost no blessings in your life any more. Everything is consumed by the enemy games. Lord, this shouldn’t be happening, you cry. Why don’t you DO SOMETHING? You promised to destroy our enemies!

Here what the Lord has already done regarding your enemies:

1. He died on the cross to save them.

2. He prayed on the cross for his Father to forgive them.

3. He told us to love our enemies and pray for the people who persecute us. (Matthew 5:43-48, Proverbs 25:21,22)

4. He told us to be angry, but do not sin (Ephesians 4:26-27), or don’t let your anger lead to sin against anyone, because you are also sinning against God. Shut it off quickly. It gives the devil a foothold in your life. Footholds devolve rapidly into strongholds.

Do you get it? To be like Jesus, to have peace, we have to let go of anything that shuts us off from him.

Christ does not hide from us. We hide from him. Harboring anger and unforgiveness against any other person, living or dead, is a sure way to hide from your loving God. Is that what you want?

He prayed for his enemies. Now you do it, and thank God for making it possible. See what happens!
